Terms of Use

By downloading, installing, or using SmartSeed ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

These Terms apply to all users, including parents, guardians, and children using the App under adult supervision. If you are using the App on behalf of a minor, you accept these Terms on their behalf.

Age Requirement

SmartSeed is designed for children of all ages. Users under 13 must have a parent or guardian create and manage their account. Users 13 and older may register directly.

Parental Responsibility

Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising their child's use of the App, managing account settings, and ensuring appropriate use of subscription features.

Account Security

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Please notify us immediately at support@smartseedkids.net if you suspect unauthorised access.

SmartSeed is a children's audio story, ebook, and interactive learning app. The App offers a library of audio stories, illustrated read-along ebooks, learning lessons, vocabulary word games, progress tracking, achievement badges, personalised reading recommendations, and Story Studio — a feature that lets parents submit personalised audio story requests for their child.

Free Tier

Free accounts have access to a curated selection of stories and core features including progress tracking and achievements.

Premium Tier ($3.99/mo)

Unlocks the full audio story library, read-along flipbooks, the Wordscape vocabulary game for stories, exclusive bedtime collections, offline listening, and Story Studio — submit personalised story requests for your child.

Premium+ Tier ($4.99/mo)

Everything in Premium, plus the complete ebook library, all learning lessons & flashcards, the Wordscape vocabulary game for ebooks, Story Studio access, and early access to new content. Access requires an active subscription.

Story Studio lets parents submit a personalised audio story request with their child as the hero. The following terms govern its use.

Eligibility

Story Studio is available to Premium and Premium+ subscribers only. A parental PIN must be set up before access is granted, ensuring that only parents and guardians can submit story requests.

Editorial Selection

Premium members may submit Story Studio requests via the app. All submissions are reviewed by our editorial team. SmartSeed selects which requests to produce at our sole discretion. Submitting a request does not guarantee production or delivery of a story.

Delivery Timeline

Selected stories are typically delivered within 10–30 days of selection. Timelines may vary depending on demand and complexity. Your Premium subscription grants access to the Story Studio submission feature; it does not guarantee story production.

Content Licence

By submitting a Story Studio request, you grant SmartSeed a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to create, narrate, and display the resulting story within the App, including in the Community Showcase visible to other Premium subscribers.

Community Showcase

Completed stories may appear in the Community Showcase for other Premium subscribers to enjoy. Your child's first name (as submitted) may appear in the story title. No other personal details are displayed. You may request removal at any time by contacting support@smartseedkids.net.

Content Standards

All story requests must be appropriate for children. SmartSeed reserves the right to decline, modify, or remove any request or story that contains inappropriate, harmful, or offensive content, at our sole discretion.

Billing

Premium subscriptions are billed through your Apple ID. Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase. All transactions are subject to Apple's payment terms.

Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Your Apple ID account will be charged within 24 hours before the renewal date.

Cancellation

Cancel any time in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → SmartSeed. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain Premium access until then.

Refunds

All refund requests are handled by Apple per their standard refund policy. SmartSeed does not issue direct refunds. Contact Apple Support at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Free Trials

Where a free trial is offered, you will not be charged until the trial period ends. Cancel before the trial expires to avoid charges.

Price Changes

We may change subscription prices. We will notify you of price changes with reasonable advance notice. Your continued subscription after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

Our Content

All stories, illustrations, audio recordings, music, characters, artwork, and software in SmartSeed are owned by or licensed to SmartSeed and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Licence to You

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

Restrictions

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, sell, modify, create derivative works from, or publicly display any content from the App without our prior written consent.

You agree not to:

No Reverse Engineering

Reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the App.

No Automation

Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access or collect data from the App.

No Harmful Use

Use the App in any way that is unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or that infringes the rights of others.

No Unauthorised Access

Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, server, or network connected to the App.

No Resale

Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the App or its content.

SmartSeed is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties, express or implied, regarding reliability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. The App may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control.

Educational Disclaimer

While SmartSeed is designed to support literacy and learning, we do not guarantee specific educational outcomes. Content is meant to complement, not replace, formal education.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SmartSeed shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App.

Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to the claim.

Apple's Responsibility

Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the App. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App or your use of it.

By You

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time from Account Settings. Deletion terminates your licence immediately.

By Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if we discontinue the App. We will provide reasonable notice where possible.

Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your licence ends and you must stop using the App. Sections on Intellectual Property, Liability, and Governing Law survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which SmartSeed is registered, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration, except for claims that qualify for small claims court. You waive the right to participate in a class action lawsuit.

Apple's Role

These Terms are between you and SmartSeed only. Apple is not a party to these Terms. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect.

Your continued use of the App after the effective date of updated Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
